The original property, located on an elegant Georgian square in South London, consisted two terrace houses that had previously been knocked through into one. The house still had two separate front doors, staircases and plumbing systems. Our design approach here was to infill one of the old stairways, giving the space back to form a large lounge at ground floor and master bedroom at first floor. The second stair was replaced with a new solid walnut stair with glass balustrades and a new roof light at the very top. The new stair then acted as a reference point around which the rest of the layout was formed. The rest of the property was refurbished internally and fitted with bespoke joinery to maximise storage.
