Planning permission has been granted for The Wee House in the heart of Clerkenwell.
The Scottish client came up with the name Wee House for a good reason. Although the house sits over four floors, it is only 2,5 meters wide at the street frontage, 5,5m deep, the width reducing to a point at the rear.
The design proposal involves making three main changes to enhance the property whilst preserving its unique qualities. At ground level, the existing (non-original) shop frontage will be replaced with a distinctive design based on pre-cast concrete panels.
The rear terrace would be infilled from First Floor level up to Second Floor. An additional storey would be added to create a new third floor. With a mansard roof and single dormer facing the street and a small winter garden at the rear.
